So on Friday Matt decided he was going to film his short film originally I was going to be his camera Op but I had to finish of my work.He had three actors from the drama department and Rob on sound Jake on camera and I was there just to help out when needed as I had just finished my work. We went outside to film the first part but after about 10 minutes it was then shown that Matt didn't want to really direct he was a bit nervous so for the first part of the video one of the actors who wasn't on screen at the time stepped in and helped him by telling the two on screen actors what they have to do and where they had to go then I stepped in and helped Matt out with his directing even though I didn't really have a look at Matt storyboards but I was there to help him with it! I'm not to sure if we stuck to the storyboard due to the fact every time we suggested something to him he would change his plan and agree with what was said by one of the crew or by actors. I don't know what he wanted to happen in his film when we finished out side he then wanted to go in and go straight up stairs to film but we spoke to Matt and said it would look a little strange that it was upstairs then suddenly going outside so I spoke to Matt as did the actors,we suggested he should do this or maybe try this so it didn't look too strange we had a few problems while filming such as the lighting went wrong from being outside with natural lights to then being inside with poor top lighting so I then showed Jake what he had to do to fix the problem with the lights on camera.Other problems we had was filming in college on the main corridor it was busy so we had to pause and go back to re-film stuff and after we got the shot of them walking into the college we had some trouble with people saying they don't want to be filmed. We then went upstairs and filmed the remaining shots that Matt wanted! Once we finished filming we decided to go with the actors and check over the footage and see how it went! In my opinion it went well but it could've been better if the director said how he wanted things to be done what he wanted actors to say,how he wanted the shots done.
So on Wednesday I finished on the final part in writing about my script I had a few problems with doing it from home so I had to finish it off when I got into college as it wouldn't let me add dialog after I finished writing about that I done my call sheet where I had to put down all the contact info for my actors so if they were late or needed again I would have the information to contact them. On Thursday I done my booking sheet and then booked out the JVC camera and a tripod before heading off to film my short film I had a few problems on set such as lighting after I recorded everything and watched over the lighting was bad so I am hoping post production can fix that once I finished filming all my stuff dean then asked for help with his film so I said yes and I went outside of the college to the overflow car park to help with dean and his actors in deans video he wanted me to film 3 actors and him all walking towards the camera so I had to slowly walk about with the camera the thing that was very annoying was that the floor wasn't smooth so it was a tad jumpy but I haven't seen deans video so I'm hoping it will still come out well. Friday with my shoot I couldn't get all the paperwork done before filming as my actor was going on holiday so I needed to film then finish off the paperwork after so on Friday I started doing my budget and sorting out all the costs then I went and started the recce I had posted the risk assessment on Weebly already and instead of just writing what could go wrong I decided I was going to use PowerPoint and make it look like a man was thinking of the things that could go wrong with the shoot and what stuff isn't safe after I done that I then went on matt's shoot and helped him out with that I didn't recorded it although I was there on hand to help Jake with the filming when needed the shoot went well there was a few problems with the storyboard and the fact we shot the video while the main corridor was busy there we had to go back and film shots a few times then we had a gentleman complain and say he didn't want to be recorded and being he was in the shot doing his job we had to work around him to make sure he wasn't filmed as he wasn't one of the college staff or student we could really say anything we just accepted what he requested once we finished the shoot the crew and the actors came to the edit suite and we watched over what we filmed to check if it was all good and in my opinion it was alright.
So this week we are getting closer to the end of the deadline date and we are finishing off work before we go off to film.on Wednesday we finished off work I finished off my schedule and the plan for what I'm going to be doing and when after that I carried on with my storyboard I haven't finished it yet but it will be finished at the end of this week! On Thursday I carried on with storyboarding and I looked in to making a script and then after lunch me and Ben went and helped out dean with his recce as he asked me to film it for him so we went outside and looked at the place where he wants to film we took some photos we also did some recording but the footage may be lost so we might have to go and re-film some stuff and Friday I finished my storyboard and made a start on my script and I should then nearly be ready to book the camera and start to film but I will need Steve to check it all over before I get ready to hand all my work over to mark for it to be sent of to be examined.
i'm about half way though making my story boards and it seems to be going well I'm having a bit of trouble with storyboardthat as I'm not much of a drawer so I didn't want to draw the story board out myself so I used the site suggested by one of my teachers my project seems to be going well I'm having a few problems where I'm forgetting how things are done but good thing is there is the class support and teachers to help me remember and to show me how to do it. I've got to get my script and recce and call sheet done before I decided to start filming I got my actors and I've gave them a rough idea how I want it done. I'm hoping to be able to direct and operate the camera myself being camera operator is what I would like to do in the future! As part of my final product I've got to learn how to do things by myself as for previous projects we worked in groups so we all had something to do we weren't having to do every unit ourself where now we have too sort out the sound and the sound gear ourself sort out camera gear the camera shots and also I have to do my storyboard and script and risk assessment on my own there is the help from teachers and class support works and we can have help from fellow classmates but we then got think they have work to be done too so we can't keep bothering each other. I've also got to edit the video myself that should take some time because with Final Cut Pro I know the basic stuff but it's learning other effects I may need for my final work!
So on Wednesday when I got into college one of my teachers Steve told me and one of my classmates Ben we had a taster day for level 3 so from 10:15 we were in were in F80 where there was a few students from the level 2 and the rest were people from school we were put into groups of four and three and we had to talk to each other and find out about what each other's names are and what they liked what they wanted to do! basically just get to know about each other we didn't really do anything with camera because as we are doing our final product on level 2 and level 3 are Doing their final product there wasn't really any time to book out cameras and all the. Equipment So we had did some stuff in class after the break we went to the LRC and did BKSB maths and English then we went for lunch and after Scott had some work for us where we had a film poster of a documentary called waiting for superman and we had to write down what we seen in.the poster! On Thursday we carried on with our work so as I finished my proposal I started on my storyboard I used a website called storyboardthat and its a useful website I asked the class TA about my storyboard as I wanted his opinion as he's written and directed short films which are very good so it meant he has some knowledge in creating storyboards scripts etc he showed me a storyboard for one of his shorts films and it showed details and shots and angles so then I had a rough idear on what to put on my storyboard. So today Friday the 6th of May we started off and carried on with our own work I decided to make my page for my final product on weebly as well as creating this blog on another note I still need come up with a name for my video I'm not sure what I should call it but I'm hoping I'll get a Idear soon as I need one before I start to film.
